Bathroom fitting in Dudley

Planning your new bathroom in Dudley

This kind of work rarely needs planning permission, but it does have to comply with Building Regulations, and some parts must be certified by a registered installer or signed off by building control. In Dudley, building control is provided by Dudley Council or a registered building control approver (formerly an approved inspector).

Waterproof panels can go up faster than tiles and have no grout lines to clean.
Combi boilers and unvented cylinders usually support a good mixer shower without a pump.
Moving the toilet is the hardest change, because its waste pipe needs a direct route and fall to the soil stack.

Options to consider in Dudley

Like-for-like refit

The new suite goes where the old one was, using the existing water and waste positions. It's the quickest and most affordable option, and it's often all a bathroom needs. Tiling, flooring, furniture and the shower choice can all change completely while the plumbing stays essentially the same.

Bath with shower over

Still the most practical layout for many family bathrooms, especially with young children. A shower over the bath needs a fixed glass screen, a well-sealed bath and tiling or panelling to full height. Choosing between a mixer shower and an electric shower depends on your boiler and water pressure, which we test at the survey.

Send the form on this page, use the guide-price tool or call 0800 088 6248 free. We'll ask a few questions about your new bathroom and arrange a time to visit.

How do I get ready for the bathroom fitters?

Clear the bathroom completely, including the cabinets and the airing cupboard if it's in the room. Make space on the landing or in a spare room for deliveries. Decide on things like towel radiator size and mirror position before first fix, because cables and pipes are placed early. Let us know about parking and access for the skip or waste.

Does Dudley Council need to approve my new bathroom?

You won't usually need planning permission, but the work must meet Building Regulations. Building control in Dudley is provided by Dudley Council or a registered building control approver, and some work is self-certified by registered installers.
