Kitchen fitting in Wollaston

Planning your new kitchen in Wollaston

This kind of work rarely needs planning permission, but it does have to comply with Building Regulations, and some parts must be certified by a registered installer or signed off by building control. In Wollaston, building control is provided by Dudley Council or a registered building control approver (formerly an approved inspector).

Adding sockets to an existing kitchen circuit isn't notifiable, as kitchens aren't classed as special locations.
New circuits for an electric oven or induction hob are notifiable work under Part P.
Checking a self-supplied kitchen against the order on delivery saves days of waiting for missing parts.

Options to consider in Wollaston

Kitchen with a new open-plan layout

When a kitchen goes in alongside a knock-through or extension, the steel position, lighting, sockets and radiators are planned around the kitchen design. Fitting the kitchen last, after plastering and screeding are finished and dry, protects the new units and means the flooring can run through both rooms without joins.

Fit-only for a kitchen you've bought

You buy from your chosen supplier and we fit it. Before ordering, we measure the room so the plan matches reality, including the positions of the window, boiler, soil pipe and radiators. On delivery we check the boxes against the order, so any shortages are chased with the supplier before fitting day.

Your questions answered

What guarantees come with a new kitchen?

Units, worktops, appliances, sinks and taps each carry their own manufacturer's guarantee, and the terms are set out in your quote. Keep the paperwork we hand over, as appliance manufacturers often ask for proof of installation date. If something we've fitted isn't right, call us and we'll come back to look at it.

How do I book a survey in Wollaston?

Send the form on this page, use the guide-price tool or call 0800 088 6248 free. We'll ask a few questions about your new kitchen and arrange a time to visit.

How should I prepare for the kitchen fitters?

Empty all cupboards and drawers, clear the worktops and move the fridge contents somewhere else. Set up a temporary kitchen in another room with a kettle, microwave and a washing-up bowl. Make sure there's a clear route from the front door to the kitchen, and tell us about pets, parking and working hours that suit your household.

Who approves kitchen fitting in Wollaston?

You won't usually need planning permission, but the work must meet Building Regulations. Building control in Wollaston is provided by Dudley Council or a registered building control approver, and some work is self-certified by registered installers.
